New Products

I've started using some new products lately that I'd like to share. The weather is getting milder so my skin is finally getting a break from harsh temperatures and winds. Spring is also a great time to lighten up on your makeup and opt for fresh glowy skin with a flush of color on your cheeks.

Lately I've been watching all of Lisa Eldridge's, a professional and celebrity makeup artist, videos on YouTube. If you've never watched a single beauty tutorial and are interested in solid makeup advice 101, I would start with her...or if you are more seasoned and are in need of some beauty inspiration  I would go to her channel and website as fast as you can. I could blab on and on about her, but her videos are absolutely mesmerizing.
With all that said, watching her videos pushed me to purchase Laura Mercier's secret camouflage in SC2 $34. It comes with 2 shades, one more pink than the other, and it has quite a hard (waxy like) texture in the pan. However, that makes it perfect for covering hyperpigmentation spots and blemishes- like Lisa in her videos I just use a very tiny pointed brush for the job. I also like how I can adjust the color perfectly by mixing the 2 shades if I need to, and it's still creamy enough to cover the under eye area. I just make sure I warm the product on the back of my hand and then apply it in thin layers with my ring finger. On lazier days I've just spot concealed with this and been happy to go run errands. Now that I have it I can't believe that I've gone without it for so long. 100% worth every penny.

I wish I was as happy with Benefit Cosmetics' new roller lash mascara $24. I was really anticipating this product because of the curling technology. I have typical Asian girl lashes that are not that visible, do not have incredible natural length, and are stubbornly straight. The claim of this mascara is that after 4 weeks 97% of users saw visibly lifted lashes, 87% saw a long lasting curl, and 94% saw a more opened eye was so promising. I must fall outside of those percentages. While this is a perfectly fine mascara it did not do anything it claimed for my sad lashes even after using my Shu Uemura lash curler. Sadly this mascara did not work for me and was not worth the money.

I emptied my bottle of Lancôme Énergie de Vie Dullness Relief & Energy Recharge Daily Lotion and have started using the Essential Skin Softener by HanYul. Both of these can be considered to be essences, and I apply them with my hands after toner and before serum. This added step in your skincare regimen can help your skin retain moisture, stay smooth, and soak in added benefits depending on what ingredients are in the product. I'm so happy to see more and more Korean brands in the states. This is a latest edition to Sephora's website. Belif is known for having nourishing ingredients and products that fit your skin type. I picked up The True Cream Aqua Bomb $38 and The Creamy Moisturizer for dry skin $38. Properly moisturizing my skin at night and during the day has become so important to me and has greatly improved my skin's condition and appearance. These products, especially the aqua bomb, flood your skin with hydration. It just feel like you're doing your skin a favor. This brand's shop in the Garusugil shopping area in Seoul has always been occupied with buyers when I've been to Korea, so move over BB and CC cream... Korean skincare is taking over.
